You have places that feel unmeetable. I’ll meet you there…

I’m committed to treating all people with dignity and respect. In my practice I strive to create a space where people are seen and valued. Who you are and how you show up matters; I honor, embrace, and appreciate all social identities. I expect and want people to bring their full selves inclusive of their race, age, ethnicity, gender, sex, religion, and the intersections among these social identities. To me this means facilitating a practice that is informed by the values of antiracism and cultural humility. I work towards clients feeling as at home as possible under my care and treatment. I am an anti-racist, anti-sexist, LGBTQ+ friendly, and sex-positive practitioner. I work with adult clients from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Every person I’ll ever meet has infinite worth

I believe authentic connection is a foundational human need - the same as nutrition, sleep, and exercise. We heal and thrive in being truly seen and accepted as our authentic selves by a safe other. I try to be that safe other to my clients and help them hone their abilities to find and connect with safe others outside of our time together.

I can facilitate insight-oriented psychotherapy as well as structured behavioral-based interventions based on the needs and learning styles of my clients.

On a more personal note - I’m a person in long-term recovery from my substance use disorder. I’m someone who has enjoyed a long-term intimate partnership, nearly destroyed it, and nurtured it back to health again. I’m a parent of three amazing and challenging children, and I’ve experienced miscarriage. I love this work. Every hour I get to spend with my clients is a gift.

From a training standpoint, I actively work to stay current on evidence-based, peer-reviewed best practices in our field. I maintain a variety of professional affiliations including the National Association of Social Workers, the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work, The International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and serve as the treasurer of the North Carolina Society of Clinical Social Workers. I've sought specific training to enhance my abilities in serving communities that are marginalized and bear the weight of systemic disadvantage. This includes folks who are marginalized by their gender identity (transgender and gender non-conforming communities) and their sexuality (GLBQ+, kink, poly, and other non-normative sexual and relationship communities). I earned my masters degree in social work (MSW) at North Carolina State University and maintain certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), EMDR trained clinician, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) trained clinician, and Registered Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) Facilitator.
